I filled in the grain of the center panel but not the frames since i would be distressing them.

We used a filler, sanded, primed, and finished with 2 coats of sherwin williams best paint possible. Distressed wood has the look of being weathered and old, giving it texture and a rustic, homey appeal. The whole process took about 72 hours total, including cleaning, paint. The distress process can be done on painted cabinets, stained cabinets or on raw wooden cabinets which will then require further refinishing.
